Another lovely shrub I forget the name of.Well, we finally have started yet another gardening season. Spring has been cold, and slow to arrive. The weather has been teasing us with a few warm days, in between very cold (for here) days. But I believe the warm sticky weather is finally here to stay.
My little helpers and I have been busy working in the flower beds, pulling weeds, more weeds, and yet more weeds. We are almost done planting flowers and seeds. I did not order any Daylilies this year. *sniff, sniff* Feels very weird. Most of the flowers this year, will be coming from seeds. Most of the flowers (notice I didn't say all! :) I did buy were off the clearance rack at Lowes. Can't resist a six pack for 84 cents, nor quart plants for a $1.
But speaking of seeds... I may seriously regret this... I bought a 24 oz bag of seeds for $5.00. A cottage garden blend. Kk and I spread them in every single flower bed we have. If even 1/4 of those seeds grow to bloom... It is going to be awesome in the backyard. At least that is what I keep telling myself. LOL
Today, I finally finished power washing the the back, and one side of the house. It had been needing to be done since last year, so it was really gross. But now it is all sparkly clean! The rest of the house doesn't need to be done. I power washed the deck while I was at it. It looks brand new again.
Tomorrow the plan is to finish up planting, designing pots, and then we will be onto the veggie garden area. When my beloved Brother was here last summer, he weeded it very very well for me. The "plan" is to keep it up, and actually plant some summer growing veggies this year. We have already started the seeds to many of them, so it will just be a matter of cleaning it up, and transplanting the babies. If it doesn't work this year, I will just have to accept that I am not meant to grow veggies there, and it will become a cutting garden.
The pictures above are some of what is blooming in the yard right now. The pictures are crappy because I used my small cheapie camera. The battery was dead on the good camera. Plus it was windy all week. Sucks cause most of the iris are past their peak, and not worth photographing. But they sure were pretty!
