A Friend took out the brick from either side of her driveway, and put down slate. She gave me the bricks! Woohoo! The kids and I took out the local rock that was here, and put down the brick. Much nicer, and a heck of a lot easier to edge. My back and knees did not forgive me for 4 days afterwards tho. :(

So the big news in the garden is these brown furry things that are making my life miserable! There have been 5 spotted. One the dogs got. Go dogs! Of course, I am talking about what I used to think where cute adorable bunnies. No more! The dang things have totally, and completely, eaten my Lillium collection. I have absolutely no idea if these plants will return next year. I tend to doubt it, because they have no way to get their energy for next years blooms, without having any leaves. I am crushed.

We called Animal Control to see if we could get a live trap from them. They said no. But if I were to kill it, they'd come and collect the body, so we did not have to take it to the dump. I do not want to kill these things. Nan would never forgive me. I just want them to stop eating my flowers. I fear once they realize all the lilliums are gone, they will start on the Daylilies. :( Guess I'll just have to wait and see. Hmmm.... I wonder if Chili powder would work? Will try that!

My Babies... I'm so proud!

The following Daylilies are mine! All mine! As in ... Why is this underlined? Hmmm...
Ah, there! No more underlines. Okay, so yes, these are Daylilies that I grew from seed. Meaning I hybridized each one. I cross pollinated the Daylilies I own, I then collected the seeds, tended to them under grow lights for months, planted them outside, and now they are rewarding me, and making me so proud of them! Last year, the majority of them were dogs! This year, they are blowing me away with their beauty. And should only get more beautiful.

Since they are mine all mine, that means I have the right to name, and register one, two or all with the American Hemerocallis Society. My plan is to register at least one, in the honor of my Mommy. I want to name it Hannelore. She is the best Mommy in the world, and deserves to have a flower named after her.

So Mom, which one do you want to be named after you??

Yellow Lillium - Just gorgeous

This week I finally got our veggie garden planted. Trying straw this year to keep the dern weeds down. Hopefully it will work! Planted two types of squash, zukes, cukes, maters, various peppers, herbs, carrots, 3 types of radishes, cantaloupe, and watermelon. Yummy!

Well, that is my garden pics updated. Been working on the garden a little bit every day. Weeds to pull, plants to feed, plants to move... The daylilies are really taking off. Seems everyday two new ones are blooming. It is very nice to finally have some color amoungst all the green in the back yard.
